Kathy says, “Working with Whitney on the cover of my debut novel was an absolute pleasure. She asked great questions to understand what was important to me, and worked hard to understand the underlying themes and tone of the book so that she could visually represent them on the cover. Then her creativity took over! If a book is truly judged by its cover, Whitney helped put me a step ahead. I love it!”
Girl Sent Away
A novel by Lynne Griffin (2015)
Lynne Griffin says, "Whitney Scharer is a consummate artistic professional. Her enthusiasm for designing the covers of my novel and its companion guide for readers was contagious. And her determination to capture visually the story within the book's pages was a writer's dream. The cover of Girl Sent Away is my favorite of all my novels. I would work with Whitney again in a heartbeat."

Today Is Not Your Day
Short Stories by Marian Thurm (2014)
Working on this book cover was really fun. Marian had a strong idea about how she wanted it to look, and had even taken a photograph of the Scream doll that we used in the final version. The cover's playfulness is a nice counterpoint to her wild and terrific stories.
Branding work for GrubStreet
GrubStreet, a non-profit creative writing center based in Boston, is celebrating their 20th anniversary this year. I worked with them to refresh their brand with a celebratory anniversary logo, capital campaign brochure, fundraising materials, apparel, and other marketing collateral.

Logo Refresh for BookSavvy PR
Sharon Bially, Founder and President of BookSavvy, says, "Whitney Scharer is a joy to work with. Beyond her superb artistic talent, she brings the utmost professionalism to every step of a project. In a trait that’s rare for designers, Whitney is an articulate, thoughtful communicator—which makes the process both easy and enjoyable. Over the years her creativity and vision have helped my business thrive."
The excellent team at BookSavvy PR was looking for a logo refresh that was professional and reflected their growing medical and corporate client base. We used the existing color palette, but updated the font to a modern san serif, and moved the logo in a clean, modern direction.

Salow is an author duo, and Ignition is the second in a trilogy they're writing together.
The Book of Wonders
Stories by Douglas Trevor (forthcoming fall 2017)
A true pleasure to work with Doug Trevor and the team at 617Books again. The publisher sent me one of the stories, "The Librarian," as inspiration for the cover. I'm happy with the design, but even happier to have read the story, which is so good I can't get it out of my head.
